September 25, 2026 – Vancouver, British Columbia – Black & White Zebra (“BWZ”) has been named one of Canada’s Top Growing Companies for 2026 by The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business magazine. The company ranked No. 320 with three-year revenue growth of 64%.
This is BWZ’s first return to the list since 2022, when it placed No. 30 with 1,593% growth after scaling from a single project management blog, The Digital Project Manager, into a media tech company with a portfolio of more than 15 professional publications. In the years between, BWZ was also named to Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 in 2023 and to Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 in 2025.
The latest growth came during a harder shift. AI is changing how people find information, and search-driven publishing is being disrupted. BWZ has spent the past three years moving from an SEO-led publisher to an AI-first media tech company.
“We went from No. 30 to No. 320, which doesn’t sound great at first glance”, said Ben Aston, Founder & CEO of Black & White Zebra. “But I’m prouder of this one. Growing 1,593% from a single blog is easy by comparison. Growing 64% while rebuilding the business for an AI-first world is the harder, better result. We’re not trying to be Canada’s fastest-growing company. We’re trying to build one that lasts.”
From search traffic to owned relationships
BWZ’s publications, including People Managing People, The CMO Club and The CTO Club, equip people with knowledge, network, and tools they need to succeed. The company used to depend on search. Its strategy nowis to own its relationship with those audiences directly and to show up wherever buyers look for answers, including AI-powered search. Over the past year, that has meant:
- Deeper audience relationships through newsletters, podcasts, video, and events
- Research and intelligence built from BWZ’s view into how professionals evaluate and buy software
- Integrated brand to demand campaigns that help B2B SaaS companies reach buyers throughout the journey, not just at the click
- AI-powered products, plus editorial built for AEO visibility in AI answers as well as traditional search
“The companies we work with don’t need more traffic. They need to be in front of the right buyer at the right moment, and that moment increasingly happens inside an AI answer, a newsletter, or a room”, Aston added. “That’s what we’re building for.”
