About the Role
This is an incredible opportunity to flex your creative muscles and bring our business media brands to life. You’ll be working across our biggest growth departments – media, commerce and product. Reporting to our Creative Director and working directly with our designers, SEO specialists, product and commerce teams, you’ll write copy that inspires action for our websites, landing pages, emails, apps, paid ads and more.
Who You Are
You are an experienced and inspiring copywriter with a knack for writing copy that entertains, resonates and converts. Whether the conversion is an email sign up or course registration, you know how to craft copy that meets the needs of your target audience at each stage of their buying journey. You’re as comfortable writing a microcopy for a website as you are writing a grinworthy ad for SEM. You’re a mentor to your teammates, eager to pass on what you know.
You also know how to listen and interpret stakeholder needs, communicate project updates and requirements for success effectively, possess superior organizational skills, and have the innate ability to juggle multiple tasks.
You prioritize impact over perfection, but you know what good writing looks like and have outstanding editing and proofreading skills that let you capture our style and tone.
You have a curious mind, and want to see how your day-to-day tasks result in improvements in traffic, conversions, leads delivered/opportunities created, and revenue growth.
What you'll be doing
- Writing impactful content in diverse forms to drive business goals, specifically improving click-through rates/conversion rates on our portfolio of websites, emails, advertising campaigns, events, gated content, landing pages, and more;
- Collaborating with our cross functional team to evolve and execute the CRO strategy, and executing the content initiatives that bring the strategy to life;
- Report on CRO and content-related KPIs, using qualitative and quantitative research to inform your content decisions, and adjusting plans according to the performance of efforts;
- Collaborating closely with other content marketers on a wide scope of projects;
- Mentoring your fellow writers to help them advance their skills through editorial reviews and conversion copywriting best practice reviews;
- Leading large scale editorial projects that position the Black & White Zebra and its portfolio of publications market leaders;
- Championing content, content conversion and copywriting best practices, and disseminating learnings across the team;
- Evolving editorial voice and tone standards across our products;
- Empowering everyone at BWZ to write their own great content by contributing to training, learning resources, and other support opportunities.
Your skill set includes
- Post-secondary education in communications, journalism, or English with a strong conversion copywriting and content experience acumen;
- 3+ years of copywriting experience in a creative/digital agency or in house content for a brand;
- A portfolio showing excellent use of creative and conceptual capabilities.
- An inherent understanding of the role copywriting plays in helping achieve their results.
- Content strategy experience, preferably in a pipeline-driven, conversion-focused environment;
- Background working with cross-functional teams including UX designers, graphic designers, product marketers, product managers, researchers, and engineers;
- Experience writing and structuring language to respond to audience needs while still maintaining conversion best practices and brand consistency;
- Demonstrated ability to create, implement, and maintain content standards across an organization;
- A foundational understanding of user-centered design techniques and how to apply them;
- Experience working on multiple projects, seamlessly switching from one to another.
Nice to Haves
- Experience in the B2B SaaS space
- A portfolio of conversion-related content work that showcases how your strategy and execution led to improvements in traffic, conversions, leads delivered, and/or opportunities created.
