We are looking for a Director of Growth Marketing who will be responsible for growing an engaged audience for our online publications, developing and executing our newsletter subscription and commerce products marketing strategy.


This role will require a deep understanding of the digital media landscape and audience development best practices, as well as experience in developing and executing successful marketing campaigns. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and targeting new audiences, optimizing our existing channels, and driving subscription growth across all our digital channels for our publications.


BWZ is a rapidly growing company, but we are still quite young and scrappy, so while this is a leadership role, we are looking for someone who is not afraid to get their hands dirty. We need someone who translates strategic vision to executional capability.

What you'll be doing

  • Make our publications and career media brands famous
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive audience growth strategy through owned, earned and paid media to grow engaged subscribers and followers and website traffic
  • Grow our newsletter subscribers and social follows while maintaining high levels of engagement
  • Manage execution of marketing funnel campaigns for digital products
  • Leverage both paid and organic channels as part of the marketing tactics, such as ads, email marketing, social media, display advertising, paid search and content marketing
  • Optimize existing channels and increase conversion rates
  • Launch new channel programs to drive subscriptions and sales across all our publications and commerce products
  • Collaborate with our editorial and social media teams to develop engaging content
  • Collaborate with product development team (commerce) to create marketing plans, including identifying target audiences, positioning, pricing, and promotional tactics.
  • Run A/B tests to improve conversions and engagements from advertising tactics and the registration flow
  • Leverage data and analytics to track and measure the success of our campaigns
  • Develop marketing copy with our in-house copywriters and work with the Design team on creative assets for various marketing channels, including landing pages, marketing emails, social posts and ads.
  • Report on campaign progress, presenting data-driven insights and recommending next steps to increase the effectiveness of the marketing campaigns
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices to ensure our strategies are effective and innovative

Your skill set includes

  • 10+ years of professional experience with at least 5 years of senior management experience in a high-performing organization
  • Track record of successfully meeting or exceeding organizational targets, achieving ambitious goals, and driving significant impact
  • Experience and passion for working in media & keeping up with industry trends
  • Deep understanding and experience with email marketing, paid social, search, display, PR and other digital marketing channels
  • Experience in customer acquisition marketing for a subscription product
  • Experience partnering with retention or lifecycle marketing in a subscription business is a plus
  • Strong understanding of customer segments and journey through the conversion funnel
  • Strong analytical skills and a knack for using data to make decisions
  • Project management skills and experience creating strategies & plans to drive audience and revenue growth
  • Problem-solving mindset, able to take initiative and makes things happen
  • Exceptional collaboration skills and experience working cross-functionally
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Great communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, and highly organized
